CO₂ is available throughout Italy

CO₂ angiography technology is present in public and private facilities across all Italian regions. Coverage is denser in the North, growing in the Centre, and progressively expanding in the South and on the islands. Write to us to find out which facility is closest to you.

💡

The most widespread technology in Italy for CO₂ angiography is Angiodroid® — the automated CO₂ injection system present in over 100 Italian hospital centres. Angiodroid ensures precise, safe and traceable injections, and is the reference standard for interventional radiologists and vascular surgeons.

How the request works

Frequently asked questions

Still have doubts?

Can I ask for CO₂ at my hospital even if I don't know if it's available?
Write to us with your city and we'll check whether there are facilities in your area equipped with CO₂ technology. The network is continuously expanding and not all facilities are easily found online.
Do I need a specific prescription to request CO₂?
There's no "special" prescription for CO₂ — it's the interventional radiologist or vascular surgeon who decides which contrast medium to use based on your clinical situation. However, you can ask your GP to indicate in the clinical request the need for an alternative technique to iodinated contrast media. Read how to do this in the physicians section →
Does CO₂ cost more than iodinated contrast media?
No — the cost of CO₂ as a contrast medium is lower than that of traditional iodinated contrast. For the patient, the cost of the exam doesn't change: it's covered by the national health service exactly like traditional angiography, when performed at a contracted facility.
Can I have CO₂ angiography at a private facility?
Yes. The technology is present in both public facilities and contracted and non-contracted private clinics. Write to us specifying whether you prefer a public or private facility and we'll indicate a suitable one in your area.
I'm a physician — how can I find out if a facility near my patients is equipped?
Write to us indicating the reference region. We can also provide informational material to share with patients who request an alternative to iodinated contrast media. You'll find the email address above in the contact section.
